This publication is the result of an experiment combining architecture with biological forms.
It evolves around the Public Library of Schoten (Belgium) which was vacant at the time as it was undergoing renovations. It is co-designed by de famous Belgian architect Renaat Braem who designed several eye-catching buildings following a simple philosophy. Organic architecture is a philosophy of architecture which promotes harmony where everything relates to one another, reflecting the symbiotic ordering systems of nature.
The Renaat Braem Library has always been one of my favorite places to visit and the renovation gave the opportunity view it in another light. As I was taking photos among the rubble of building materials I was investigating the shapes and functions of the architecture. Later I would search for a biological equivalent and try to revive the cold husk of a building that had been abandoned for years. The combination of organic architecture and natural constructions creates a series of visual intriguing new shapes which are collected in this book.
