In 2017 the Braem Library - designed by the famous Belgian architect Renaat Braem - was reopened after several years of being closed for restoration. To celebrate this event a publication was made describing Braems work and his significance to Belgian post WW2 architecture and beyond. This 80 pages long book also contains images of original concept sketches by Renaat Braem as well as photage of the Library throughout history – from sketch to restoration.
Renaat Braems vision on architecture was that architecture ought to be in service of the people and not the other way around. He sought to welcome and empower visitors in their endeavors through the design of the building. He understood that as an architect he had the opportunity to change people’s mindset by changing the living space.
